Integrated School Eye Health Programme in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh
The School Eye Health (SEH) Programme in Kasganj district, Uttar Pradesh, is a 2.5-year initiative focused on improving eye health and learning outcomes among children aged 5–18 enrolled in government schools. By integrating eye health into the broader school health system, the programme aims to ensure early identification and timely management of vision impairments, while fostering greater awareness and care around children’s eye health.The programme commenced in January 2026 and was formally inaugurated on 25 February 2026 in the presence of a representative from the Wen Giving Foundation.
Over the course of the programme, 1,500 schools will be covered, and 105,000 children will be screened, enabling early identification of vision needs and supporting improved learning and development outcomes. Additionally, 3,150 children and 3,000 teachers will receive spectacles, while 3,000 teachers will be trained in primary eye screening and the identification of common eye conditions—helping build a stronger, more sustainable school-based eye health system.
