School Eye Health and Myopia Progression Control

The SEH and Myopia Progression Control Project in Katni, Madhya Pradesh started in July 2024 and completed two years of implementation in March 2026. To date, 92,307 children have been screened, and 2,134 children identified with uncorrected refractive error have received spectacles. Additionally, 993 schools have been covered, and 1,107 teachers have been trained; 1487 teachers were also screened, and 1011 teachers received spectacles under the project.

Over the four years, the program is expected to screen 180,847 children, enabling early identification of vision needs and improving their ability to learn and thrive. A total of 3,617 children and 2,004 teachers will receive spectacles, while 2,000 teachers will be trained in primary eye screening and the identification of common eye conditions, creating a stronger and more sustainable school-based eye health system.
