Mission for Vision

Wen Giving project partner Mission for Vision has been awarded the 2022 Fit for Life Award for its innovative and impactful contribution in reintegrating elders into an active and independent life by restoring vision and mobility.

Fit for Life Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of older people in aging societies worldwide by supporting life-long fitness and independent mobility. The award recognises organisations that are high-performance, innovative and positively impactful for older people.

Mission for Vision, was awarded the top honour along with two other organisations from a field of over 500 applicants across 80 countries.

Wen Giving supports the work of Mission for Vision in India by providing infrastructure, training and financial support to allow Mission for Vision continue its work in providing high-quality eye health care to the most disadvantaged people and eradicate preventable blindness.

Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in people aged over 50 in India. Eye procedures provided by Mission for Vision through the support of Wen Giving turn this dire statistic around and improve the quality of life of this vulnerable group.

“We feel truly honoured to have been recognised for our innovative and impactful contribution in reintegrating elders into an active and independent life by restoring vision and mobility,” Mission for Vision Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Kurian said.

“This award is dedicated to Wen Giving… thank you for being such an important part of this journey and we really appreciate your commitment to Universal Eye Health that has helped accelerate our progress towards a world free of avoidable blindness.”
